Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. St Patrick is credited with bringing christianity to Ireland. Most of what is known about him comes from his two works; the Confessio, a spiritual autobiography, and his Epistola, a denunciation of British mistreatment of Irish christians. Saint Patrick described himself as a “most humble-minded man, pouring forth a continuous paean of thanks to his Maker for having chosen him as the instrument whereby multitudes who had worshipped idols and unclean things had become the people of God.”

Benito Juarez was a Mexican politician and statesman of the late nineteenth century. He was president for five terms in the turbulent years of 1858 to 1872. Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Juarez’s life in politics is his background: he was a full-blooded native of Zapotec descent – the only full-blooded native to ever serve as president of Mexico – who did not even speak Spanish until he was in his teens. He was an important and charismatic leader whose influence is still felt today.

Federal holiday is a designated date on which celebrations mark the nationhood of a nation or non-sovereign country. This nationhood can be symbolized by the date of independence, of becoming republic or a significant date for a patron saint or a ruler (birthday, accession, removal, etc.). Often the day is not called “National Day” but serves and can be considered as one. The National Day will often be a national holiday. Some countries have more than one National Day. Importance attached to the National Day as well as the degree to which it is celebrated vary enormously from country to country. Most countries have a fixed date National Day, but some have movable dates. Denmark and the UK are among the few countries which do not have national days
The Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania or Act of March 11 (Lithuanian: Aktas dėl Lietuvos nepriklausomos valstybės atstatymo) was an independence declaration by the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic adopted on March 11, 1990. Signed by all members of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania, the act emphasized restoration and legal continuity of the interwar Lithuania, which was occupied by the Soviet Union and lost independence in June 1940. It was the first time that a soviet socialist republic declared independence from the collapsing Soviet Union.

The day was first officially commemorated in 1934, and it has been a public holiday since 1974.
Traditionally Mexico has celebrated the anniversary of its constitution on February 5th every year, however current Mexican labor law, effective 2006, now establishes that the Mexican Constitution be honored as an official holiday on the first Monday of February, regardless of the actual date. It is one of Mexico’s Fiestas Patrias or Patriotic Holidays.
